How to slip stitch (sl st) in crochet
in this video you’ll learn how to do a slip stitch luckily this is one of the fastest to just do in crochet so to make a slip stitch you insert your hook into the next stitch yarn over and you simply pull it through all of the loops of both the top loops you just put the hook under as well as the loop on your hook and there you have it we’ll do it again a little bit faster insert the hook into the next stitch pull it through all of the loops

Nice simple stitch, but I think it would also be helpful to know the what/where/when/why of it. The term "slip stitch" was casually dropped in your beginner-level tutorial for closing an amigurumi, but I have no idea why it's useful in that instance, as I have zero prior crochet knowledge.
